Welcome to the Cville Dining website. Our effort here is NOT to be a simple ad for the local eateries, but to give you some real guidance on where to dine in Charlottesville

Charlottesville has a wide variety of restaurants from the literal 4 stars to the greasy spoons. Though the obvious big boys (The Boarshead Inn and The Clifton Inn are great examples) do supply wonderful experiences, there's a myriad of small spots that deliver great fare at a reasonable price. You can find virtually any style and and quality here. Our site attempts to steer you to the good ones and shield you from the bad.

C'ville has real charm and value in many, many places. The selection is huge for such a small place, and the quality is as good as it gets. Just keep out a discerning eye.

How We Rate

We rate restaurants on a relative scale--diners are not compared in absolute terms to 4-star restaurants: they are rated based on reasonable expectations. The metrics are: quality of the food, quality of service, atmosphere. It should be obvious that the atmosphere of a diner will be compared to other diners--not to The Clifton Inn. Chain restaurants, such as Applebee's, will be compared to comparable places we have seen over the years. We make an attempt to compare apples to apples (or Applebees to Applebees)
